New Payroll Person - Lisa
Hey Team,
Big news: Lisa Whitlock is joining the Mindful Therapy Pacific NW family as our brand-new Cashflow Commander (alternative working title: Destroyer of Delays).
Lisa comes to us with a sharp legal-assistant brain, a “get-it-done-no-matter-what” work ethic, and the kind of humor that makes spreadsheets almost fun. Where did I find such a unicorn? Well… I met Lisa through my late partner, Bernadette, who worked with Lisa for years when she was her legal assistant. She had nothing but good things to say about her and trust me, Bern was fricken’ picky. What that means is Lisa has already been tried, tested, and proven to deliver with precision and heart. She’s smart AF, funny as hell, and already diving headfirst into the strange world of payroll. Don’t let the learning curve fool you, she’s got the grit and brains to get this dialed in fast.
She lives in Utah with her husband, son, and a ridiculously cute dog who will be supervising her work and reporting directly to me. Lisa is personable, wickedly organized, and the exact kind of human you want on your side when systems need wrangling and direct deposits need tending.
Over the next month, she’ll be learning, transitioning in and helping fine tune our payroll process because, frankly, it’s time.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY!
Here’s the scoop (and I take no credit for this genius idea, it is all Lisa):
What’s Changing for Associates and LPCs (twice monthly paydays)
We’re shifting from payroll being processed on the 1st and 15th to the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
Why? Because when payday hits on a Friday or on a weekend, direct deposits get delayed and we’re done letting the banks hold our money hostage.
With QuickBooks, payroll processed on a Wednesday means your funds hit by Friday (maybe even Thursday) just in time to go out to dinner, pay bills, or buy your emotional support latte for the weekend.
Associate and LPCs Transition Plan
To avoid a long dry spell between paydays during the transition and training period:
In November, we’ll move to weekly paydays (every Wednesday): Nov 5, 12, 19, and 26.
Then we’ll kick off the new rhythm starting December 3 and 17, followed by January 7 and 21, and so on from there.
What’s Changing for Interns and Supervisors (monthly paydays)
We’re shifting from stipends and monthly pay being issued on the 1st of the month to all stipends being processed on the last Wednesday of each month.
Interns and Supervisors Transition Plan
To avoid a long dry spell between paydays during the transition and training period.Beginning this month, we will issue pay deposits to the last Wednesday (October 29th).Then we’ll continue the new rhythm in November 26th, December 31st, and so on from there.
Please join me in welcoming Lisa to the team (do your MTPNW thing that you all do so well) she’s already proving to be the kind of steady, funny, capable force every good rebellion needs. Give her a shout, send a meme, or just say “hey.” FYI she LOVES TikToks!
Welcome to the family, Lisa. Let’s get this payroll superhero cape fitted.
